Mouhib El-Bizri

Biomolecular Sciences
MPhil in Biological Sciences (Biomolecular Sciences), University of Cambridge, BSc Pharmacology (First-Class Honours), University of Nottingham
Learn more

Mouhib El-Bizri is a biomolecular scientist with an academic background in pharmacology and biomedical research. He studied Biological Sciences at the University of Cambridge, specialising in Biomolecular Sciences, following a First-Class Honours degree in Pharmacology from the University of Nottingham.

His research experience spans molecular pharmacology, cell signalling, neuropharmacology and cancer-related molecular mechanisms. At Cambridge, his research focused on the regulation and dimerisation of PKN1, a protein kinase associated with cancer, investigating the molecular interactions that influence its activity. His earlier research at Nottingham explored opioid receptor function and the pharmacological properties of receptor-targeting compounds, using advanced laboratory techniques to investigate cellular responses.

With practical experience in molecular biology, protein analysis, receptor signalling and experimental pharmacology, Mouhib brings an interdisciplinary perspective to biomedical science. His academic interests extend to the connections between pharmacology, psychology, neuroscience and computational modelling, reflecting the increasingly interdisciplinary nature of modern medical research.

Alongside his research, Mouhib has experience teaching Chemistry and Biology and has been awarded a University of Cambridge School of Biological Sciences bursary for academic merit.

Hear From Those Who’ve Transformed Their Futures
I’m in the process of applying to university next year, and I know it’s one of the toughest decisions of anyone’s life. One of my favourite parts of the programme was the entrepreneurship class. As a very competitive person, I truly valued the environment that pushed me to grow and develop that part of myself. It really fuelled my ambition and helped me see things in a whole new way. This experience gave me the confidence and skills that I will highlight in my university application, making me feel more prepared and excited for the next step.

One of the best parts of my experience was making lasting international friendships while playing football with peers from Romania, Spain, and beyond. The excitement of those matches, yelling, shooting, and dribbling — was unforgettable and has stayed with me ever since. It wasn’t just about the academics; the chance to engage in dynamic activities like this made the entire journey feel extraordinary.

As parents, we wanted our kid to have an experience that would truly make a difference. This programme gave him the confidence, independence, and skills to thrive. He built lasting friendships, grew personally, and is now more prepared than ever for university and beyond. Watching him transform has been incredible,
and we couldn’t be more proud!
